100 students will be selected through an essay competition. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students, and must not be born prior to 1978.

English will be used during the conference as the official language.
All the applicants must first be registered via our official website before March 17th , 2012 (postponed till 3/17), and applicants' essays must be submitted also via our official website by April 1st, 2012 (postponed till 4/1) to be eligible for the competition.
Qualified participants will be notified via e-mail in early May of 2012.
The expenses of accommodation and meals(except for the dinner on 9, 10, 11) during conference are covered by GIS Taiwan. Subsidies of flight tickets are offered to international students according to the location of their respective universities.
Please refer to the table below for the amount of flight subsidy for different regions. Note that the region is based on the location of the delegates’ schools, and not their nationalities.

Note:
- GIS Taiwan reserves the rights to announce the amount of subsidy to those delegates whose countries are not listed.

Delegates in favor of applying for the subsidy should submit ALL of the documents below:
- Boarding Pass
- E-Ticket
- Photocopy or scanning of Passport with detailed information (passport number, given names, nationality, etc) and ID photo
- Progenitor of Flight Ticket Payment Receipt
- Photocopy of Certificate of Enrollment
- The subsidy will be canceled if the delegate has absence records in more than ONE session during July 8th, 2012 ~ July 12th, 2012.
- GIS Taiwan will respectively offer the top 5 and top 6 to 10 essay winners additional $50 USD and $30 USD as a reward.( before deduction of income tax)
- The subsidy will be offered in cash after the farewell party on July 12th, 2012.
